Here's the deal, the thought of making baby food for three meals a day while safely introducing allergens is so overwhelming. I understand the importance of providing my baby with nutritious meals, and according to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), early introduction of allergenic foods can reduce the risk of future food allergies. But honestly, it’s not just physically demanding, it's a mental burden too.

The list of requirements for feeding my little human was lengthy, and as a busy mom, one of the best lessons I've learned is outsourcing certain tasks to the pros, so I can worry less and be more present with my kids. So, you can imagine my excitement when I discovered that my favorite convenient allergen introduction system, Ready. Set. Food!, launched purees with the 3 most common food allergens—peanut, egg, and milk. These pouches not only save time in the kitchen, but also make allergen exposure so much easier.

Here’s my honest review of Ready Set Food Organic Purees.

Why I love Ready. Set. Food! organic purees

I remember how nervous I was with my son Caden when it came to all things eating. Introducing solids is exciting, but also really overwhelming—I was nerved up about allergic reactions, the anxiety around choking, and the sheer exhaustion of prepping and offering a variety of foods every day. And keeping up with allergen exposure after that initial introduction? Even harder. I had a constant running list in my notes app on my phone of what he tried and when. That’s why I love Ready Set Food organic purees—they make this part of feeding so much simpler.

Allergen exposure

Ready. Set. Food! (RSF) pouches are unique because they're the first puree pouches to include the top allergens—peanut, egg, and milk. Unlike other pouches which are primarily just fruits and veggies, RSF takes it a step further by adding these allergens to make it easier for you to keep them in your baby's diet after you've introduced them. “Introducing allergens isn’t just about that initial exposure; it’s about keeping them in the diet and maintaining exposure, which helps lower the risk of developing food allergies later on,” says pediatric dietitian Dahlia Rimmon, MS, RDN

Nutrition

  • No added sugars
  • Organic
  • 5 or 6 grams of protein, which is impressive for its size
  • 2 grams of fiber, which can be helpful for babies dealing with constipation during the early stages of starting solids (which is totally normal!).
  • Three kid-approved flavors— Banana Blueberry, Apple Banana Carrot, and Apple Peach Cinnamon
  • Made with simple ingredients: pureed fruits + veggies, peanut flour, milk protein concentrate, and dried egg whites

Safety

  • Several studies like the LEAP Study, EAT Study, and PETIT Study support early and frequent allergen introduction, showing that introducing allergens between 4 to 6 months, can reduce your child's risk of developing food allergies later on.
  • Contain a pre-portioned amount of each allergen in every pouch
  • Clean Label Project Purity Award winner
  • Third-party tested, making sure they stay well below the limits for heavy metals

Convenience

You can buy RSF pouches directly from their website in packs of 6 or 12, with free shipping on orders over $40. They're also available on Amazon in packs of 6 or 12 and on Thrive Market in packs of 6. So, no matter where you shop, you can have these pouches conveniently delivered right to your door (mom win!).

Cost

When comparing the cost of RSF pouches to other leading organic food puree brands, RSF pouches are priced at $2.87 per pouch for a 12-pack. In contrast, organic alternatives without allergens range from $2.75 to $3.75 per pouch.

And when you move past the baby food stage, there might be new challenges that pop up (hello, veggie negotiations and toddler meal ideas). But there are some pretty great moments too—like sharing a scone and coffee (or a cup of milk) at your favorite cafĂ© or watching your toddler slurp up noodles at dinner, giggling between bites. Remember, it's all a phase and you're doing a great job.
