Once I found a diaper I trusted, I stopped switching it up. Fewer rashes, longer stretches of sleep, and materials I feel good about against my baby’s skin? Of course I’m staying put.

But when Pampers Amore launched as a new “lux” option, I was curious how it would compare to my tried-and-true Coterie. So I tested them. Here’s my thoughts.

Criteria #1: Ingredient safety

When researching diapers, you might come across terms like TCF (Total Chlorine Free) and ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free). Here’s the difference:

  • Total chlorine free (TCF): No chlorine or harsh chemicals are used in the bleaching process, making it the cleanest option in my opinion.
  • Elemental chlorine free (ECF): Uses chlorine dioxide instead of pure chlorine, reducing exposure but not eliminating it.

For something my baby wears 24/7, I prefer TCF.

Coterie

Total chlorine free (TCF), hypoallergenic, and dermatologist-tested. Coterie diapers are independently lab-tested and free from fragrance, lotion, latex, dyes, heavy metals, parabens, phthalates, and chlorine bleaching. Coterie shares third-party test results publicly, so you can see exactly what’s in the diaper and what’s not.

Pampers Amore

Pampers Amore does not state being TCF. They are hypoallergenic and free of fragrance, parabens, elemental chlorine, and latex. They have dermatological accreditation through the Skin Health Alliance.

Ingredient Safety Winner: Coterie

Criteria #2: Absorbency

Coterie

Coterie’s absorbent core holds over 16 oz of liquid with up to 12-hour leak protection. It absorbs quickly and stays dry to the touch. The core pulls moisture away fast, so the diaper feels dry inside, even after a full night. I’m always shocked how full my son’s diaper gets every night without any leakage or diaper rash (he’s 6 months and we’ve never had a leaking diaper overnight!)

Pampers Amore

Pampers Amore features a 5-layer protection system with a KeepDry liner and absorbent core, and they also have up to 12-hour protection.

I did notice the diaper felt super damp, especially overnight. He was seconds away from experiencing a diaper leak each morning, and Coterie stayed noticeably drier.

Absorbency Winner: Coterie

Criteria #3: Softness

Coterie

Coterie diapers are incredibly soft, more like cashmere than a typical plastic diaper. They’re plush and smooth, without that crinkly texture. Once you feel them, it’s hard for any other diaper to compare.

Pampers Amore

These are a bit softer than Pampers Swaddlers, but still have that thin, plastic feeling, especially compared to Coterie. I had high hopes, but there doesn’t seem to be a big noticeable difference from their OG diaper.

Softness Winner: Coterie

Criteria #4: Eco-friendliness

Coterie diapers use sustainably sourced materials, including wood pulp from responsibly managed forests. They’re made with 25% plant-based components, making them more biodegradable when compared to standard disposable diapers.

Coterie is also transparent about every material used and publishes a full Diaper Safety Report. They’re upfront that no disposable diaper is perfectly sustainable, but they’re actively investing in research to continue reducing their impact.

Pampers Amore

Pampers shares company-wide sustainability efforts, including responsibly sourced wood pulp and factories that aim to reduce overall waste. They also mention investments in partnerships focused on improving diaper waste solutions.

The Amore line focuses more on the brand’s broader initiatives rather than any detailed, product-level reporting.

Eco-Friendly Winner: Coterie

Criteria #5: Cost

Coterie

A monthly subscription of 198 diapers costs $95 = $0.48 per diaper

Pampers Amore

A pack of 168 diapers costs $69.99 = $0.42 per diaper

Cost Winner: Pampers Amore

Coterie is still my top pick for a diaper every time!

Even with the price difference, Coterie is the diaper I’ll continue to use.

For me, fewer leaks, less irritation, and a noticeably softer feel are worth it. When it comes to something my baby wears all day and night, quality matters.
