This post is in partnership with Coterie. I only endorse products I believe in.
There’s something about a solo Target trip that feels like self-care. Wandering the aisles without little hands grabbing everything, maybe a coffee in hand, is a small luxury that doesn’t come around often. On one of those quiet strolls, I found myself in the diaper aisle, eyeing Target’s Up & Up diapers and wondering if these could really replace my usual Coterie stash.
I’m all about quality, but I also love making life easier. Sometimes that means grabbing everything in one Target run. Other times, it means having essentials delivered right when I need them. So I decided to find out. I tested six popular diaper brands found in the Target aisle against my tried and true Coterie: Millie Moon, Honest, Up & Up, Pampers Swaddlers, and Huggies Little Snugglers.

Absorbency
To evaluate absorbency, I did two tests. First, I poured 1 ounce of water into each diaper, waited 60 seconds, then assessed dampness inside and outside the diaper. Second, I repeated this again 60 seconds later.
🥇 Coterie: Coterie diapers absorbed liquid instantly and felt incredibly dry. 5/5
🥈 Millie Moon: This performed the same as I’d consider your average diaper. It absorbed the liquid (not instantly like Coterie though), and feels damp to the touch. 3/5
⛔ Honest: This diaper absorbed slowly, got bulky when wet, and the surface felt damp to the touch. 2/5
⛔ Up and Up: Absorbed slowly and left noticeable moisture behind. It felt damp to the touch after both tests. 2/5
⛔ Pampers Swaddlers: The liquid resisted absorbing into the diaper and took a long time to settle in. These definitely felt wet. 2/5
⛔ Huggies Little Snugglers: While Huggies absorbed the liquid right away, they felt the wettest after water was poured onto them and were a bit damp on the exterior. 2/5
Ingredient safety
An important note on safety terms: TCF (Total Chlorine Free) means no chlorine or chlorine derivatives are used in the bleaching process. ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free) uses chlorine dioxide instead of pure chlorine, which reduces exposure, but doesn’t eliminate it.
🥇 Coterie: TCF, latex free, fragrance free, lotion free, dye free, alcohol free, paraben free, phthalate free. The first brand to release a publicly available Diaper Safety Report. 5/5
🥈 Millie Moon: ECF, latex free, fragrance free, lotion free. They also disclose ingredient evaluations. 3/5
⛔ Honest: ECF, latex free, fragrance free, paraben free, phthalate free, but contains lotion. 2/5
⛔ Up and Up: ECF, fragrance free, latex free, but includes lotion and does not publicly share third-party safety testing. 2/5
⛔ Pampers Swaddlers: ECF, latex free, dye free, alcohol free, paraben free, phthalate free, but contains both fragrance and lotion. 1/5
Huggies Little Snugglers: ECF, fragrance free, lotion free, latex free. Huggies claims safety testing, but doesn’t disclose full details or publish results. 3/5
Comfort
🥇 Coterie: OMG these are so soft! The material is like cashmere for diapers. 5/5
Millie Moon: These have a slight plasticky feel to them, like layers of tissue paper crinkling between your fingers. 3/5
Honest: These have a crinkly paper-like feeling. They are super stretchy, which makes movement more comfortable, but it also makes it harder to lay them out flat under your baby during diaper changes. 3/5
Up and Up: Softer than I expected for the price and with a quilted liner that’s decent. But they still feel more budget than plush. 3/5
⛔ Pampers Swaddlers: These feel exactly as you’d expect a diaper to, plastic and crinkly. 2/5
⛔ Huggies Little Snugglers: These feel like your standard diaper, nothing super soft here. The material is sturdy but has a bit of a stiff feel. 2/5
Cost
Coterie: A subscription of 198 diapers in Size 1 = $95 ($0.48/diaper)
🥈 Millie Moon: 108 diapers in Size 1 = $26.99 ($0.25/diaper)
Honest: 78 diapers in Size 1 = $29.99 ($0.38/diaper)
🥇 Up and Up: 168 diapers in Size 1 = $25.99 ($0.15/diaper)
Pampers Swaddlers: 164 diapers in Size 1 = $43 ($0.27/diaper)
Huggies Little Snugglers: 168 diapers = $44.99 ($0.27/diaper)
