Everyday Dose vs. Ryze vs. MUD/WTR

This post is in partnership with Everyday Dose. I only endorse products I believe in and personally use.

That second cup of coffee after lunch had become non-negotiable for me.

By 2pm, I felt like I needed it just to get through the rest of my workday, school pickup, dinner, baths, and the second shift in “mom mode.”

But I also started noticing the trade-offs. I felt jittery. More anxious. And even when I was completely exhausted at night, my brain still felt “on.”

So I started looking for something that could still give me that boost, just without the downside.I decided to try a functional coffee, and these three brands kept coming up: Everyday Dose, Ryze Mushroom Coffee, and MUD/WTR. Here’s how they compare.

Criteria #1: Ingredients

If I’m drinking something every single day, I want to know exactly what’s in it and whether those ingredients are actually helping me feel better… or just sounding impressive on the label.

For me, the biggest things I cared about were: caffeine level, focus support, whether it would feel calming or overstimulating and whether it had added sugar.

For reference, a typical cup of coffee has around 90–100 mg of caffeine.

Everyday Dose Coffee+:

What stood out to me immediately with Everyday Dose was how intentional the formula felt. Instead of throwing in every trending ingredient, it focused on a smaller combination.

  • 45 mg Arabica coffee extract
  • Mushroom blend: Lion’s Mane + Chaga, both commonly used for mental clarity, focus, and overall immune and gut support. They use the clinically recommended dose to ensure you actually feel the benefits.
  • L-theanine for calmer energy
  • Plus grass-fed collagen peptides, which means one less supplement I need separately
  • No added sugar

Ryze Mushroom Coffee:

Ryze uses a much broader mushroom blend, which some people may love, but for me it started feeling a little crowded ingredient-wise.

  • 48 mg Arabica coffee
  • Mushroom blend: Includes Cordyceps, Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Shiitake, Turkey Tail, and King Trumpet, all commonly used for energy, focus, and immune support.
  • MCT oil + coconut milk made it feel heavier and more latte-like
  • No added sugar

MUD/WTR:

MUD/WTR felt the least coffee-adjacent of the three.

  • ~45 mg caffeine (from organic coffee + decaf coffee blend)
  • Mushroom blend: Includes Lion’s Mane, Cordyceps, Reishi, and Chaga, commonly used for focus, energy, and immune support
  • L-theanine: Helps promote a calmer, more steady focus
  • No added sugar

Ingredients Winner: Everyday Dose Coffee+

For me, Everyday Dose Coffee+ stands out for its more streamlined ingredient list. And I love that it includes collagen, which means one less thing I need to think about adding into my routine.

Criteria #2: Quality & Safety

When it comes to wellness products, I care just as much about testing and transparency as I do ingredients. This means how things were sourced, tested and data behind its claims.

Everyday Dose Coffee+:

This was actually the biggest differentiator for me. Everyday Dose was the only brand here that had independent clinical research done on the finished product itself, not just ingredient-level claims.

  • Third-party tested for heavy metals, mycotoxins, allergens, and mold
  • Certificate of Analysis available for ingredient and safety transparency
  • Independent, placebo-controlled clinical research conducted on products
  • An 8-week clinical study showed improvements in areas like sleep quality, focus, and gut comfort

Ryze Mushroom Coffee:

  • Third-party tested for heavy metals and contaminants
  • USDA Organic certified
  • Ingredients sourced from organic farms with controlled growing practices

MUD/WTR:

  • Third-party tested
  • USDA Organic certified
  • Mushrooms grown in the U.S.

Quality & Safety Winner: Everyday Dose Coffee+

Criteria #3: Taste

Everyday Dose Coffee+:

The easiest transition from regular coffee for me. It still had that rich, comforting coffee feel, just smoother and lighter.

The subtle chocolatey flavor made it feel enjoyable instead of something I was forcing myself to drink because it was “healthy.”

Ryze Mushroom Coffee:

Leaned noticeably more earthy. I could see some people enjoying that, but personally it reminded me more of a wellness latte than coffee, and the texture felt slightly chalkier than I expected.

MUD/WTR:

Much stronger spice profile, which made it feel almost chai-like. It improved with creamer, but it still didn’t fully replace the actual coffee experience for me

Taste Winner: Everyday Dose Coffee+

Criteria #4: Cost & Value

One thing I noticed quickly is that all three brands sit at a premium price point compared to regular coffee.

So for me, the real question became: Did the experience actually justify the cost?

Everyday Dose Coffee+:

Because Everyday Dose also includes collagen and focus-support ingredients, it felt less like “another wellness expense” and more like replacing multiple things I was already buying separately.

  • One-time purchase (starter kit including a frother and other items): $45 for 30 servings, or $1.50/serving
  • Subscribe and save (refill): $36/month, or $1.20/serving

Ryze Mushroom Coffee:

  • One-time purchase (starter kit): $49.50 for 30 servings, or $1.65/serving
  • Subscribe and save (refill): $36/month, or $1.20/serving

MUD/WTR:

Cost & Value Winner: Everyday Dose Coffee+
