Whole Foods Diaper Review

How many times have you been caught in a diaper bind? “I swear I had another pack in the closet…” said me dozens of times. As a busy working mom, it’s easy to lose track of that diaper stockpile (or lack thereof), resulting in some ad hoc trips to Whole Foods. Being the over-analyzer that I am, I decided to test out the diaper brands I’ve found on the shelf at Whole Foods – Coterie, Honest, Whole Foods 365 – to see which is best. Here’s the results of my Whole Foods diaper review:

1: Absorbency

I poured water on each diaper to understand how fast it absorbed and how dry it felt.

Coterie: This diaper has a cushy thickness that absorbs liquid quickly, without being bulky. It felt incredibly dry within seconds. 5/5

Honest: This diaper starts out thin, and gets bulky when wet. While this diaper absorbed quite quickly, the surface still felt wet upon the touch. 3/5

Whole Foods 365: This diaper absorbs just as quickly as Honest, but feels the wettest of all the options, meaning leaks are likely as is diaper rash. 2/5

WINNER: COTERIE

2: Comfort

Coterie: OMG these are so soft! The material is like cashmere for diapers. And as far as safety goes, these check all the boxes: chlorine free, latex free, fragrance free, lotion free, dye free, alcohol free, paraben free, phthalate free. 5/5

Honest: These have a crinkly paper-like feeling. They are super stretchy, which makes movement more comfortable, but it also makes it harder to lay them out flat under your baby during diaper changes. These don’t have parabens, latex or fragrance. 3/5

Whole Foods 365: These feel almost identical to Honest, but have a bit less stretch. These don’t use chlorine, fragrance or lotions. 3/5

WINNER: COTERIE

3: Eco-friendliness

Coterie: Coterie diapers are made with wood pulp sourced from sustainably managed forests and has invested a portion of proceeds to accelerate the transition to truly sustainable diapering solutions for all. 4/5

Honest: Honest says it harvests wood from sustainably managed trees, and claims its thinner diapers save 7000 trees a year. 4/5

Whole Foods 365: WF 365 doesn’t have any mention of environmental impact on its packaging or online. 0/5

WINNER: TIED COTERIE & HONEST

4: Cost

This is the cost I found for single packs of diapers at my local Whole Foods for Size 3 diapers.

Coterie: 28 diapers for $17.99 = $0.64 each

Honest: 68 diapers for $29.99 = $0.44 each

Whole Foods 365: 31 diapers for $12.49 = $0.40 each
