This post is in partnership with Baby’s Only. I only endorse products I believe in and would personally use with my family.

Three days after Caden was born, our pediatrician voiced her concern over Caden’s weight. I was still in the hospital recovering, but wasn't allowed to leave until he gained more weight. Like most c-section mamas, my milk had yet to come in.

And that's when our formula journey officially began. I had done zero research on formula, so I sprung into frantic action and did a ton of research on how to pick a formula, because I knew I wanted one made with quality ingredients from a brand I trusted.

Since my harried experience, I recommend that all expectant moms purchase formula BEFORE baby arrives for this reason. Recently, a reader asked my opinion on Baby's Only formula… I had somehow never heard of the brand. When I learned Baby's Only was part of the Bobbie family (which we used with Willow), I was eager to learn more. Here’s my review of Baby’s Only.

Baby's Only Organic Infant Formula

What is Baby’s Only?

Baby’s Only is an organic infant and toddler formula brand that has actually been in business for over 20 years. It is dedicated to setting a new standard for formula quality and striving to make organic formula accessible for every family, which is noticeable by its approachable price point.

Baby's Only formula is crafted in a manufacturing facility in Ohio, owned and operated by Baby’s Only directly. By owning its own facility versus using a third-party manufacturer, Baby’s Only has more control to institute higher standards throughout sourcing, testing, and production.

Like I said, the Baby’s Only brand was new to me and didn’t come up in my original baby formula research. But after diving in here, I think my lack of awareness was because the brand itself hasn’t invested a ton in marketing compared to other big players in the market, likely using those dollars to prioritize safety and quality instead.

During the recent formula shortage in the U.S., it was a scary time for parents relying on formula for their babies. Many leading formula companies shut down production due to contamination hazards. As a result, demand increased but there was not enough formula to go around. Baby’s Only stood out as one of the few formula companies that not only continued production, but also managed to avoid any product recalls due to contamination.

Better yet, Baby’s Only is highly available. You can find its formulas online and in-store at many retailers like Whole Foods, Target, and Walmart.

Baby's Only Organic Complete Nutrition Infant Formula

I’m impressed with Baby’s Only, and here are just a few reasons why.

Ingredients

This infant formula is USDA Organic Certified and carefully formulated with a protein ratio of 60% whey and 40% casein, resembling mature breast milk composition. It exclusively uses 100% lactose as the carbohydrate source, without the inclusion of corn syrup, maltodextrin, or palm oil. Products are free from dyes, artificial colors, added growth hormones, and prohibited pesticides.

I opted against a formula containing corn syrup and palm oil because I preferred a cleaner alternative. Also, pediatric dietitian Dahlia Rimmon, MS, RDN, explains, “Some parents steer clear of palm oil because of constipation concerns.” I definitely know firsthand that a constipated baby isn't a happy one.

Safety

Baby's Only is crafted in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility located in Ohio. By relying on independent and domestic manufacturing, it maintains greater control throughout the production process. From carefully sourcing ingredients to rigorous testing for quality and safety, every step is meticulously taken to ensure excellence in every product.

All of Baby’s Only products undergo rigorous testing to ensure quality and to meet high safety standards. As a USDA Organic Certified product, it strictly adheres to the regulations set by the USDA. These regulations prohibit the use of pesticides, GMOs, and many synthetic additives. Additionally, packaging is free of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS Forever Chemicals), which may be harmful to health.

Additional safety measures:

  1. Use of tamper-evident cans
  2. Comply with FDA regulations for nutritional and quality standards
  3. Clean Label Certified, third-party testing for heavy metals and purity
  4. All ingredient suppliers provide a certificate of analysis to ensure quality and safety

Availability & Convenience

Baby’s only is available in store and online at major retailers like Target, Walmart, Albertsons, Meijer, Sam's Club, Sprouts, and HEB. There is also a convenient subscription option available on its own website which offers the most savings. Sensitive tummy? Baby's Only A2 Organic Milk Infant Formula is an option!

If your baby has a sensitive digestive system, Baby's Only offers a formula made with A2 milk for gentle digestion. This formula boasts all the same benefits and quality ingredients as the Baby’s Only regular infant formula, but it's uniquely crafted with A2 milk proteins. These proteins are similar to the beta-casein protein found in breastmilk, and are easier for babies to digest.

Research suggests that children who consumed A2 milk have less gastrointestinal symptoms compared to children who consume conventional milk. Rimmon suggests, “If your baby is fussy, gassy, or experiences discomfort after feeding, it may be worth discussing the switch to A2 milk formula with your pediatrician.” A2 formula could potentially address these issues and provide easier digestion for your baby.

Benefits of organic formula

If you're committed to living an organic lifestyle, you understand the significance of providing organic formula for your baby. Formula serves as the primary source of nutrition for your baby until their first birthday, making it crucial to prioritize organic options.

Organic baby formula is made from organic milk and ingredients sourced from organic farms. This ensures that your baby's formula contains fewer pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, and GMOs. For these reasons, I felt more confident and at ease providing my children with organic formula.

Real parent reviews of Baby's Only formulas

I sifted through over four dozen online reviews and here’s what parents said about Baby’s Only:

Pros

  1. Gentle, tolerable, and easy on digestion
  2. Peace of mind knowing that the ingredients meet the highest safety standards
  3. Easy to mix
  4. Great tasting

Cons

  1. Some parents reported that the formula has a funny smell, but it smells like other formulas I’ve used 🤷‍♀️

So Is Baby's Only Formula the Best Kept Secret? Yes!

I can't believe I missed Baby's Only during my initial formula research for Caden and Willow! It's seriously such a great choice. The clean, quality ingredients and price are hard to beat. It's perfect for parents who prefer an in-store shopping experience (or let's be real, for moms who want an excuse to browse Target aisles without kids). Its monthly subscription option is super convenient too, plus you can get a great discount when you subscribe.

It's a reliable option any parent should feel good about giving to their baby. I'm excited to share my recommendation with all expecting mama friends!
