This post is in partnership with Bobbie. We only endorse products we use with our families.

I almost made the mistake of choosing the most inexpensive formula on the shelf, until I calculated the real cost of second-guessing ingredients, chasing supply, or feeding my baby something I don't fully trust.

When I was researching formula for my baby, price was a factor, but true value was non-negotiable.

Here’s what made my list:

  • A 60:40 whey-to-casein protein ratio, modeled after mature breast milk
  • DHA to support brain and eye development
  • Lactose as the sole carbohydrate source
  • No palm oil or palm olein oil (these may cause firm 💩)
  • Organic ingredients and transparent sourcing
  • Supply reliability (who remembers the formula shortage in 2022?)

I narrowed things down to four organic whole milk formulas: Bobbie, Little Spoon, Kendamil, and Bubs. Spoiler… only one formula checked every box. Here’s my research, so you don’t have to do your own.

Criteria #4: Cost and Subscription Benefits

Don't let the price on the can fool you, cans come in different sizes and yield different amounts. Here's the cost per prepared 4-oz bottle, which is one helpful way to look at value (though, price isn't everything).

🥈Bobbie Organic Whole Milk Formula: $1.00 per bottle

  • One-time purchase: $112 for 4 cans ($1.06/bottle)
  • Stay Stocked™ Monthly Subscription: $100.80 for 4 cans ($1.00/bottle)
  • Subscription perks:
    • Bobbie’s promise means reserved formula supply through your baby’s first birthday so you never have to worry about store shelves being empty.
    • Free shipping on subscription orders
    • Pause, skip, delay shipments, swap formulas, or cancel anytime
    • Text reminders before shipments
    • Expert-led feeding support through Bobbie Journeys
    • 1:1 consultation with a registered nurse and IBCLC ($250 value!)
    • Discounts on brands like Coterie, Nanit, and Lovevery

Little Spoon Organic Whole Milk Formula: $1.15/bottle

  • One-time purchase: $120 for 4 cans ($1.28/bottle)
  • Subscribe & Save: $108 for 4 cans ($1.15/bottle)
  • Subscription perks:
    • Free shipping on subscription orders
    • Easy to modify or cancel anytime
    • Subscription deliveries automatically renew every 2 weeks

🥈Kendamil Organic Cow Formula: $0.86/bottle

  • One-time purchase: $39.99 for 1 can ($0.86/bottle)
  • As of August 2026, Kendamil's organic formula isn't available to purchase online for U.S. orders on us.kendamil.com, which directs shoppers to buy in store.

🥇Bubs 365 Day Grass-Fed Infant Formula : $0.78/bottle

  • One-time purchase: $35 ($0.78/bottle)
  • As of August 2026, there is no U.S. subscription

Pricing: Individual cans are priced at $35 for a 28.2 oz can ($1.27/oz)

Bubs wins on price, it's the cheapest per ounce. But it is not certified organic, has no subscription and no reserved supply, so remembering to reorder is on you. Bobbie costs a little more, but a reserved supply and auto refills are > than the risk of running out.

Bobbie Organic Whole Milk Formula is my winner!

Bobbie stands out for high-quality nutrition, thoughtful ingredients, and support that makes feeding feel less overwhelming. Could you find a cheaper can? Sure. But cheapest and best value aren't the same thing.

What your dollars buy with Bobbie:

✅ USDA Organic whole milk from grass-fed cows

✅ Clean Label Project Purity Award + Pesticide Free Certification

✅ Producedin Bobbie’s own U.S. facility with 2,000+ quality checks
