Coterie Diapers are one of my top must-purchase items for your baby, hands-down. After two babies, I can confirm the quality of these diapers just can’t be beat. I researched all the non-toxic diaper brands like Honest Company, Pampers Pure, Hello Bello, Dyper, Coterie, Healthy Baby, Freestyle, Huggies Naturals and more.
Here are some criteria I considered: What are the softest diapers? What are the cheapest diapers? What are the most absorbent diapers? What are the safest and have the least amount of chemicals? What are the best diapers for sensitive skin? What are the best overnight diapers? Cloth diapers vs. disposable diapers? What disposable diapers are compostable?
Did you know that no diaper is fully compostable, 100% biodegradable or truly eco friendly? I learned this from a 1:1 interview with the Coterie team. Synthetic materials are required for a diaper to function properly. There are services in certain cities like REDYPER or TinyTots that collect used Bambo, Nest or Dyper diapers and then composts the parts that are biodegradable, but this process releases significant amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere.
After learning more about this process, I chose a few diaper options at different price points to test on our baby. I figured it would be a good experiment to justify if the high-price tag of Coterie was actually worth it.

Top Notch Absorbency
These are the most absorbent diapers I've tried. A single diaper can hold over 16oz of liquid, and its 4x faster in absorbency compared to other brands, which is such an important factor in preventing leaks. It also tested to help skin stay 3x drier than other brands. Whether this is true or not, who knows, but what I do now is my babies only had a diaper rash a few times (have diaper rash cream on hand just in case) and I’d equate that to them staying nice and dry under that diaper.
Also, we’ve been fortunate to not have frequent blow outs. Yes, we’ve still had some in these diapers, but no consistent incidents. While I use them exclusively all day and night, some friends think these are the best night time diapers out there. I can confirm I noticed longer stretches of sleep once my babies used Coterie diapers. This functionality alone is enough to justify a higher price-point IMO.

OMG these are so soft! Like luxuriously soft. They feel like actual cloth, not crunchy disposable diaper materials. These certainly take care of keeping your baby’s sensitive skin all nice and cozy. I’m sure you’ve picked out several higher price-point, organic cotton and bamboo outfits for your baby, think of this diaper material as that same high-end quality as the onesies you’ve obsessed over. This is a strong reason we’ve stuck with the brand – seriously you just need to feel them for yourself.
Convenient Wetness Indicator
Nice convenience, quick check to see how wet the diaper is and if he really needs to be changed. I was shocked this isn’t on Honest Co. diapers!
Simple design
Some people love the cute little designs on diapers, my personal preference is the classic simple white diaper look.
Not compostable, but sustainably-minded
Eco-friendly diapers are definitely an interest among moms I know. Unfortunately there is no such thing as a 100% biodegradable diaper. There is a lot of greenwashing in the industry today and it's hard to know what's true. I appreciate that Coterie is extremely transparent about its processes and materials. So while not an actual compostable diaper, Coterie is thinking about the environment and planning for a more sustainable diaper future.

But are Coterie Diapers really worth they hype?
100% yes they are worth the hype. I found myself in a bind without my Coterie diapers, and needed to purchase some at the store. I gave Huggies a try again for a few days… and my baby got one of the worst diaper rashes he's had EVER!
Can you buy single packs of Coterie Diapers?
There are two options to buy single packs of Coterie Diapers. Option 1: Enroll in an auto-renew subscription and you can add on a single pack to your address – this is especially useful if you are traveling and want to ship diapers to your destination ahead of time. Option 2: If you are in a pinch and need diapers NOW, individual packs are available at Whole Foods, however not all sizes are stocked.
Does Coterie make pull-ups?
Coterie offers a combo traditional diaper / pull-up called ‘The Pant.‘ I switched to The Pant when my toddler started to move around A LOT. They have a very comfortable fit, and I love that that can be put on standing up, or laying down! Plus what's really innovative that no other brand has, and I love, is that The Pant has velcro adjustable and resealable waistband.
